About Freudian Sips

The Freudian Sips speaker series fosters psychoanalytic thought across the disciplines by:

  • Bringing together campus graduate students, post-doctoral scholars and faculty who may not otherwise encounter one another due to disciplinary, institutional, or rank divisions but whose work and thinking intersect with psychoanalysis in the broadest of terms.
  • Featuring new work at the forefront of psychoanalytic thought – work that challenges what counts as ‘psychoanalytic’ writing and ideas and rethinks how psychoanalysis is used in different disciplines.
  • Creating a space for scholars at all stages to share and receive feedback on work that intersects with psychoanalysis.

Freudian Sips is hosted by the Pscyhoanalytic Research Cluster and is generously sponsored by the Davis Humanities Institute and the UCD English, Anthropology, and Religious Studies departments.
